Welcome!
This guide is designed to provide a starting point for undergraduate research in Africana Studies using print, online, and human resources; either those which CSULB provides, or that are freely available on the Internet.
The CSULB Department of Africana Studies focuses on critical study of African Americans, Continental Africans, Afro-Caribbeans, and Afro-Latinos, but also allows for study of African peoples in Asia and Europe. Africana Studies seeks to critically examine and understand the Africana experience from an Afrocentric or African-centered perspective.
Research Paper Clinics
Each semester the University Library provides walk-in clinics for students who need research or writing assistance. A librarian and a staff from the Writing Center will be available for individual consultations. Research workshops on special topics are also offered.
