Research for Housing Issues Report:

1) Choose Country: Pick the country you're researching upfront; it'll simplify your work.

  • Use CountryWatch (linked below): CountryWatch provides news and info on world countries.
  • Accessing Information: Click COUNTRY REVIEWS from the top toolbar on the homepage.
  • Select Country: Choose your country from the left dropdown menu.
  • Use Filters: On the left, check out Overviews: CountryPolitical, Economic, and Environmental sections

2) After choosing a Country, start with OneSearch or Academic Search Complete (linked below).

  • Search: Enter Housing AND [country] in the search bar.
  • Review: Look at the results to see topics like affordability, quality, homelessness, etc.
  • Subject Filter: Use the SUBJECT filter on the left. This shows housing topics covered in the literature.
  • Location Filter: In databases like Academic Search Complete, use the LOCATION OR GEOGRAPHY filter on the left. Some filters are by region, some by country. If your country is missing, there might be less research on it.

3) Locate Current Issues: Look for recent news in the country.

  • Use Global Newsstream: Visit Global Newsstream database (linked below).
  • Search Strategy: Try Housing AND [country] or use keywords like homelessness, poverty, migrants, etc.
