ASSIGNMENT: Urban Geography Sustainable Cities, 7 Projects

You can use some of the same google search techniques as in the Drawdown Project to identify similar projects done in other cities or counties as examples of how Long Beach might implement such a project.

Here are some effective google search techniques using the topic, city or county planning of bike routes, as an example. (Note, "using quotes" forces word adjacency and using site:gov finds government documents, policies and plans.)

"bike routes" planning city site:gov  OR  "bike route planning" strategy site:gov   OR "bike path planning" city site:gov

ASSIGNMENT: Policy Analysis Paper Based on Drawdown

Identify your policy initiative: Is it "smart glass," "solar lighting," "managed grazing," or one of many other solutions?

Using "solar lighting" as an example, here are some open google search techniques for finding government sites or non-profit sites.

Find a governmental entity, (city or county, or state) and see how policies have been implemented. Use them as examples.

  • To find government websites use SITE:GOV in your search.
  • To find nonprofit organizations and advocacy groups use SITE:ORG

Use the words  "POLICY IMPLEMENTATION" OR "ACTION PLAN"  OR "IMPLEMENTATION PLAN" in your search in your search. The "use of quotes" forces word adjacency.

GOVERNMENT ENTITY EXAMPLES:

"solar lighting" "implementation plan" site:gov OR "solar lighting" "action plan" site:gov OR "solar lighting" "policy implementation" site:gov
