Faculty Lounge: FAQ

Library services for Faculty and Instructors at CSULB

How can I use the Library from my office or home?

In your office you can access the library's many online services just as if you were in the library.  From off-campus, you will need a Campus ID number and MyCSULB password to access most databases and online journals.

How can I suggest a purchase to the library?

Contact your subject librarian or fill out the Recommend New items Form.

What are my borrowing privileges?

Faculty can check out books for 1 year, media (CDs and DVDs) for 30 days, and journals (current and bound) for 3 days.  Items can be renewed.  See the Circulation page for more information.

How can I get books or articles that CSULB doesn't have?

Use CSU + for books, and BeachReach for articles, book chapters, dissertations, etc.  Visit the Interlibrary Services page for more information.

How can I put things on course reserve?

Books, articles, and more can be placed on reserve.  Visit our Course Reserves information page.  You will need to create a course page for each class, and then you can request items for each course.  Items can be physically in the library (books) or electronically available 24/7 (articles).

What services does the library offer students?

Students are able to check out items, use computers, software and printers in the library.  Students also have access to subject librarians and the reference desk.  Visit the Student Services Page for more information.

Can I schedule my class in one of the library's computer labs?

The computer labs in the library are for library instruction only.  Contact Library Administration at 562-985-4047 if you have questions.
