Welcome!

This guide is designed to provide a starting point for research in sociology using scholarly journals, books, and statistics. It includes sources that CSULB provides and ones freely available on the Internet. To get started, click on the GETTING STARTED tab.

Getting Started with a Search

Once you have a research question. break it into keywords. For example, for the research question, "Does social capital affect educational achievement?" one keyword might be "social capital." Another might be "education," with the synonym "educational achievement."  These keywords are the search terms you use in the databases.
