PrisonPandemic™ is bringing greater transparency to the COVID-19 crisis in prisons. Made up of faculty and students at the University of California, Irvine, it is an ongoing initiative to collect stories from people incarcerated in California prisons, their family members and loved ones, and the staff/employees who work in these facilities.

Data & Statistics
Find data about the U.S., such as maps and population, demographic, and economic data.
Many government agencies have statistical information on a wide range of topics. You may need to do further research to find out which agency has the information you are looking for or can help you find it.
United States Interagency Council on Homelessness, State Data "Our map provides estimates of the number of people experiencing homelessness, based on the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's January 2015 point-in-time count. State population data comes from the U.S. Census 2014 Population Estimates."

U.S. Census

The U.S. Census counts every resident in the United States, and is required by the Constitution to take place every 10 years. In between, the Census Bureau conducts American Community Surveys to keep the data up to date.

Go to the Census web site to obtain data from the Census, and use American Factfinder to access the available data. In American Factfinder you can find data in the form of maps, tables, and reports from a variety of Census Bureau sources. Look at the American Factfinder help page for additional information.

Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority "In December of 1993, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Los Angeles mayor and City Council created the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) as an independent, joint powers authority. LAHSA is the lead agency in the Los Angeles Continuum of Care, which is the regional planning body that coordinates housing and services for homeless families and individuals in Los Angeles County. LAHSA coordinates and manages over $300 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs that provide shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness."
