OBIS Outdoor Biology Instructional Strategies is an outdoor program that offers young people fun and challenging opportunities to investigate ecological relationships in their local environment. The 97 OBIS activities, which take youngsters outdoors to investigate biology and to increase their environmental awareness can be used together or individually.
PBS Learning Media Model Interactive Lessons These interactive lessons span a range of subjects and grade levels. Each presents content from a public media production, specially tailored to the curricular needs of the classroom. Teachers can assign them to individual students, pairs, or small groups for self-paced work, or can present all or parts of the lesson to a full class. Each lesson features several engagement and assessment activities. Student work in these activities is saved and can be viewed online by teachers.
Science in the classroom Science in the Classroom (SitC) is a collection of freely available annotated research papers from the Science family of journals. (go to "How to Use This Resource" at: http://www.scienceintheclassroom.org/how-use-resource for more information) SitC aims to help educators, undergraduates, and advanced high school students understand the research contained in scientific primary literature by using annotations and providing accompanying teaching materials. Annotations include vocabulary, methods, descriptions of prior research, and explanations of major conclusions. Each paper has an educator's guide outlining connections to science competencies within STEM learning frameworks and standards. Educator guides also provide suggested activities, discussion questions, and resources for further exploration of the subject.
