What and Where is ARTstor?

ARTstor is a database that contains more than one million images of art, architecture, and photography which span various cultures and time periods.

Artstor Artstor is more than one million images in the arts, architecture, humanities, and social sciences with a suite of software tools to view, present, and manage images for research and pedagogical purposes now completely available in JSTOR. Artstor's separate interface was shut down August 1, 2024.

Create an Account

Registering for an account with ARTstor enables you to save image groups, add personal notes, and download the Offline Image Viewer. The option to register is located in the "Log in to ARTstor" box in the upper right hand corner of the ARTstor home page. Click on "Not Registered?" to create your account.

ARTstor Mobile

ARTstor is now available to registered users through the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch. ARTstor Mobile can only be accessed through the Safari browser. More information is available here.
