A listing of databases free on the web for anyone. All of the databases listed below were selected by CSULB subject librarians. All are accessible free on the web, no CSULB login required.

- ACLS Humanities E-Book ProjectA digital collection of over 1,600 full-text titles in Humanities offered by the ACLS in collaboration with twelve learned societies, nearly 95 contributing publishers, and librarians at the University of Michigan’s Scholarly Publishing Office.
- Bartleby.comProvides unlimited free access to thousands of electronic books, with special emphasis on classic literature and reference sources. Titles can be downloaded in a variety of formats, including PDF and Microsoft Reader.
- BookBoon"Bookboon's free online textbooks for students are focused and to the point. They are all written by highly respected professors from top universities in the world and cover topics such as economics, statistics, IT, engineering and natural science."
- Charles Darwin's LibraryDigital copies of Darwin's library including his handwritten notes.
- National Academies PressFree download of all PDFs in education, science, medicine, engineering and more.
- Open Textbook CatalogUniversity of Minnesota has created this catalog of open textbooks. "Open textbooks are complete textbooks released under a Creative Commons, or similar, license.
Instructors can customize open textbooks to fit their course needs by remixing, editing, and adding their own content. Students can access free digital versions or purchase low-cost print copies of open textbooks." - The Online Books PageFree, unlimited access to more than 20,000 electronic books.
- Thesaurus Linguae GraecaeA digital library of Greek literature which has collected and digitized most literary texts written in Greek from Homer to the fall of Byzantium in AD 1453. Its goal is to create a comprehensive digital library of Greek literature from antiquity to the present era.
